Yes, the map is upside down. We are using the Hobo-Dyer projection, which is an equal area projection map. In this kind of map, the shapes of areas roughly in the middle are more accurately rendered while those towards the poles are flattened. Funny how it changes our perceptions of what is central and important in the world.
